  • Description
These seeds were collected from Hibiscus vitifolius, also known as Grape Leaved Mallow, Tropical Fanleaf, Five-winged capsule rose-mallow, and Tropical rose mallow. This shrub can grow up to 7 feet tall and the large yellow flowers have a purple center. A good quality fiber can be obtained from the stems. Hibiscus plants in general are a nectar source for the Cloudless Sulphur, Orbed Sulphur, Disguised Scrub-Hairstreak, Yojoa Scrub-Hairstreak, Dukes Skipper, Large Orange Sulphur, White Angled-Sulphur, Yellow Angled-Sulphur, and Monk butterflies, and larval hosts for the Bumelia Webworm and Pearly Wood-nymph moths, and the Cloudless Sulphur butterfly.
