ACE HARDWARE - Rolling Meadows, Illinois - 1950s(?) Vintage Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from the Ace Hardware store located at 3003 Market Plaza in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. They offered "PAINTS, TOOLS, HOUSEWARES, SPORTING GOODS, ELECTRIC SUPPLIES, PLUMBING SUPPLIES" and used the slogan "ACE SETS THE PACE". The phone number is given in the old style of "CL 5-9030".
There's no printing on the inside.
Produced by Lion Match Co., Inc., Chicago, Ill.
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but the old-style phone number probably places it in the 1950s, or perhaps early 1960s.
Condition: Good, I'd say. The cover is clean and the striker strip doesn't appear to have actually been used. However, there's a crease across the back and some damage to the striker strip area, likely from rough removal of the staple that held the matches. There's also an additional couple sets of staple holes which pass through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
