This is a NEW nipple, or end button, for a brake cable housing. It is made of aluminum alloy. It goes on the end of 5 mm brake cable housing. The small end of the nipple goes in a hole in some brake levers. It is made to fit 2 different size holes. Most newer bicycles have levers that do not need an end button.
According to my measurements, the diameter of the smallest part that goes in small holes in a brake lever is 3.9 mm. The diameter of the part that goes in large holes in brake levers is 7.9 mm.
