MLB'S ROYCE CLAYTON, ACTRESS SHIREEN CRUTCHFIELD & DIRECTOR RICK FAMUYIWA'S 1988 ST. BERNARD HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK
Another nice collectible for your consideration. You are looking on a 1989 St. Bernard High School Yearbook with future MLB star Royce Clayton and Actress Shireen Crutchfield. This product is for the 1989 St. Bernard High School Yearbook (Playa Del Ray, California), titled "Voyager - Volume 28" and subtitled "A year in the life." This was the Senior year for future MLB All-Star selection Royce Clayton and Shireen Crutchfield. The freshman year for Rick Famuyiwa. Future actor Antonio Sabato, Jr. is also a freshman at this school this year, but he is not shown...or at least I could not find him. This is a private Christian school. Clayon is shown seven times in the book, with his Senior Class, three times in the Home Coming section and three times in the Baseball Team section (with the team, and two nice actions shots - "throws to first with ease" and "catches the ball with a smile." Crutchfield is also shown six times in the book. With the Senior Class, with the National Honor Society, with the Campus Ministry, with the Viking Voice (school newsletter), with the Pep Club and an AD in the back taken by her mother showing a baby photograph of Crutchfield and her one-year younger sister. Famuyiwa appears in the book twice. With his Freshman Class and and one the Junior Varsity Basketball team. The inside and back covers are full of signatures, I didn't notice either three notable students. This book is in very nice, ot quite almost new but not far from it. Former professional baseball shortstop Royce Spencer Clayton was born January 2, 1970 in Burbank, California. Clayton was picked by the San Francisco Giants in the 1st round (15th pick overall) in the 1988 MLB Amateur Draft. Clayton made his Major League debut for the San Francisco Giants on September 29, 1991. He played for the San Francisco Giants (1991-1995), the St. Louis Cardinals (1996-1998), the Texas Rangers (1998-2000), the Chicago White Sox (2001-2002), the Milwaukee Brewers (2003), the Colorado Rockies (2004), the Arizona Diamondbacks (2005), the Washington Nationals (2006), the Cincinnati Reds (2006), the Toronto Blue Jays (2007) and the Boston Red Sox (2007). Clayton was a 1997 All-Star selection. While inactive for the Fall Classic, Clayton earned his a World Series ring with the Red Sox swept the Colorado Rockies in the 2007 World Series.
Actress/Model/Singer Shireen Crutchfield is an actress best known for her short but rememorable role as Jace (X5-798) in James Cameron's television series Dark Angel. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, she was the lead singer in the R&B group "The Good Girls." She has appeared on "The Bold and the Beautiful", "3rd Rock from the Sun", "Seinfield" and has made guest appearances on shows such as The Steve Harvey Show & The Jamie Foxx Show. Crutchfield's first television appearance was in 1993 on Soul Train with "The Good Girls." She has also been seen in a campaign for Ford vehicles and has modeled in print ads for a major department store.
Rick Famuyiwa graduated at the University of Southern California (USC). His is the film writer and/or director of The Wood (1999) and Brown Sugar (2002). His latest project, Our Family Wedding (2010) stars Forest Whitaker and America Ferrera. Famuyiwa was nominated as Best Director for a 2000 Black Reel Award for his work on Brown Sugar.
