The U380 Code Reader is an easy to use tool for novice to moderate DIY customers. This simple to use tool enables the user to read diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the on-board computers of 1996 and newer OBD-II compliant vehicles (excluding CAN vehicles – Controller Area Network). This gives the user the control to quickly determine the issue or reason that the Check Engine Light is on. Once repairs are made, then the user can clear the trouble codes and turn off the light.

VEHICLE COVERAGE:
This scanner is specifically designed to work with all OBD II compliant vehicles (all 1996 and newer cars & trucks that are OBD II compliant). Federal Law required in 1996 that all cars and light trucks that are sold in the U.S. must be OBDII equipped.
There are, however, a small number of 1994 and 1995 model year gasoline vehicles that are also compliant but not on the list of tested vehicles. To see if your car is OBD II compliant, please look for the following two items:
1. Locate the 16 Pin OBDII connector under the dashboard on the driver side on most vehicles, but some are located behind the ashtray.
2. Check the Vehicle Emissions Control Information Label which is located under the hood or by the radiator on most vehicles. If the vehicle is compliant, the label will designate "OBD II Certified" and will have a 16-pin OBDII Standard Socket.
