There are 20 general topics such as Weather, Transportation, Restaurant, etc. Included are an additional 6-12 Basic topics, such as Alphabet, Colors, Greetings, Numbers, etc. Audio Gallery (downloadable software) is an introduction to a foreign language (or English), and contains 700-900 basic words and phrases. Word-Pal (available on the web) contains over 7000 words and phrases, audio is in British and American English, Chinese and Russian, and it includes Braille and Handsigning translations.Audio Gallery is designed as a rapid introduction to the basic vocabulary of a foreign language. Word-Pal is more of a reference, but can still be useful as an educational tool. Both programs are designed for ease of use by children or adults who may not be able to read English, but who can, of course, click on pictures. Both programs are naturally easier to navigate through pictures.Japanese Audio Gallery features more than 800 digitized words and phrases in Japanese, with Hirigana, Katakana and Kanji fonts. Includes Hepburn romanization of the Japanese sounds (transliteration of Japanese characters into Latin letters). There is a quiz for each chapter, so you can test your new knowledge, and Japanese-English and English-Japanese dictionaries of the Audio Gallery vocabularies. Please download and try the demo before purchasing the program. If the demo runs okay on your computer, then the program itself should run okay. We have successfully tested this on XP, and O/S's preceding XP, and on Windows 7. But, given the many configurations of Windows, we can not guarantee it will run on all versions of Windows. Audio Gallery is an old program. It was written for the Amiga computer, before Microsoft Windows became the predominant operating system for the home desktop computer. The graphics are pixelated, but the audio is sharp, and the price has been reduced to almost nothing. A great intro to a foreign language!
