This Sourdough starter was generously passed to us by a professional Wisconsin baker. It has always been kept up and fed with never-bleached, never-bromated King Arthur flour and used for baking regularly.

Also, it does not require complicated feeding instructions like many on the web show. People have used sourdough starters for thousands of years without a scale or precise measurements, and nowadays, things have become complicated, and you are told to do everything with super precision. Read our simple instructions on how to feed it at the end of this description!

You will get around 8 oz of live wet sourdough starter.
We use priority USPS Priority Shipping ($10.60) only to ensure that the SOURDOUGH STARTER gets to you promptly for the next feeding.

FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS: Always feed this sourdough starter with a heaping cup of unbleached flour and a scant cup of warm water. If using, let it sponge overnight; otherwise, put it in the refrigerator right after feeding.

EASY CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Keep refrigerated in a large container with a lid on for up to 2 weeks, then feed.

Note: Sourdough sometimes forms black liquid on top. Just stir it into the starter using a long spoon before feeding it.
Note: The sourdough starter must be transferred into a larger container as soon as you receive it.
