Cut 6-inch sections from healthy stems of the split-leaf philodendron just below the aerial roots. ... Dip the bottom 2 inches of the stem cutting into the rooting hormone. Tap the stem to remove any excess powder. Stick the cutting into the holes of the soil and tamp the soil around the cutting.

Clinging aerial roots of split-leaf philodendron. It produces numerous, long, tentacle-like aerial roots as it grows upward which attach to nearby branches and tree trunks. The tough roots grow downward from the thick stem and will root if they touch the ground.

It's best to repot your split-leaf once every year or two. If you see roots beginning to grow out of the pot, it may be a sign that you need to move your plant to a different pot. A day before repotting this indoor plant, water the soil, making it easier to remove the plant.

The difference between the two is the shape and size of the leaves. The philodendron has smaller leaves, which are split rather than fenestrated. They also have a feather-like shape, while Monstera leaves are round and heart-shaped.. . . . .364011234224!]0000000000000009783314147451!]
