NOTE: These complete hydrostatic transaxles are Out-of-stock, but the separate Hydro Modules and Axle Modules are still available, so one can be assembled. Contact me for details.
The VST-Series 205-023 and 205-024 transaxles are now obsolete as complete replacements. The previously available 799031 VST-to-LTH Conversion Kit had all the necessary components to replace the VST transaxle with the LTH 2000-026. Photos 1 & 2 show the transaxle; Photo 3 shows the Instructions and bag of conversion parts – belt, brackets, pulleys, hardware, etc. These parts may still be available from Murray.
This new-in-box transaxle conversion was manufactured to fit Murray and Murray-badged (Scotts, etc.) front-engine lawn tractors and riding mowers with the foot-pedal F-N-R control.
These transaxles have a 5-3/4"-diameter input pulley mounted over the 7-1/4"-diameter cooling fan, with the pulley centerline approximately 5-1/4" above the case-seam centerline.
The speed-control lever is on the left side; the brake and free-wheeling controls are on the right side.
It has 3/4"-diameter axle shafts that extend out from the case 5-7/8"+/- on each side; the axles have 3/16" x 2-3/4" keyways with snap-ring grooves on the axle ends. The overall end-to-end axle length is approximately 31-1/4".
The case has two sets of industry-standard mounting holes -- the close-together holes are on 13" side-to-side centers x 1-3/4" front-to-back centers; the far-apart mount holes are on 16-1/4" x 2-1/2" centers.
MOUNTING NOTES:
1. Follow the Instructions accurately.
2. Make sure you have the front support securely fastened to the transaxle or misalignment and damage will occur.
DRIVE-LINKAGE NOTE: This transaxle is for foot-shift applications only, just like the original 205-023s and 205-024s.
OVERFLOW RESERVOIR NOTE: The translucent reservoir tank on top of the hydro module will have a plug in the breather hole to prevent oil leakage if the transaxle is turned upside-down during shipping. Before installing the transaxle into the mower, remove the plug and install the breather that is included separately with the transaxle, or you will have internal over-pressure and external leakage during operation.
These are 'A'-Input transaxles -- they mount in the mower with the input pulley, shift arm and brake AHEAD OF the axle ("Axle-Rearward"). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS TRANSAXLE on any rider where the transaxle is mounted with the input pulley, brake and shift arm BEHIND the axle ('B'-Input -- "Axle Forward"), as it is not engineered for this mode of operation.
QUESTIONS? Please -- if you are attempting to use this transaxle to replace a different transaxle -- before you ask a "Will-it-fit?" question, compare the measurements of your transaxle to the dimensions I have listed above for this transaxle, and note the Model and Serial Numbers off your current transaxle. Yes, that may require safely jacking up your mower, removing a wheel, then crawling under the mower with a scale, tape measure, flashlight and notepad, as well as a rag to carefully clean off dirt and grease. In your question, also include the Model and Serial Number off the mower. Thanks!

FEEDBACK: Our Feedback is 100%, which is good. The latest Feedback, however, is in December of 2011, which may raise questions. The reason for this is because we had to drop PayPal as an Approved Payment Method in our Store due to PayPal’s and eCrater’s restrictions, and the only way Feedback can be left is if we show PayPal as an Approved Payment Method and the Buyer pays with PayPal through the eCrater Checkout. For this reason, there are no Feedbacks since December of 2011, even though we’ve had hundreds of satisfied customers since then. If you would like to get a referral from a recent customer near you, please let us know. We have nothing to hide, and your satisfaction is our priority.
