None of the company's salesmen has managed to get even close to Hazlip. Dagwood offers to go after Hazlip. Dagwood lies in wait for him in the hotel lobby. There he strikes up an aquaintance with a portly gentleman (Gene Lockhart) who shares his interest in tinkering. The man - it's Hazlip, of course, invites him up to his suite to help dismantle a vacuum cleaner. Meanwhile, back at the Bumstead home, the loan collector is removing the furniture. Blondie puts in a panic call to Dagwood at the Hazlip Suite. Hazlip's daughter Elsie answers, and Blondie is sure her spouse has taken up with another woman.
