This lamp post most likely was in front of a doorway of a 1920's building entrance.
They typically were mounted on a base of stone or concrete. Post has a beautiful taper with mounting ears at base of post. Has electrical box attached on one side. Extremely heavy for its size. The top has a neck that is 3" across. They make a post top fitter that fits over a 3" neck and makes the neck 4" to fit 4" globes. Email for details.
Post height is 66 1'2" tall The thickest part of the tapered shaft is 6".
The post bottom is square and sits flush on base.
