It is made out of 5160 carbon steel. This is spring steel, which, while not as hard as other steels, gives it spectacular durability and toughness.
It is NOT stainless steel. It must be hand washed, and dried after use. It is not dishwasher safe. A dab of oil will protect this knife for a long life. This knife is hardened to approximately 58 HRC.
The handle is made from a bicolor Red + Black G10, with 2 brass pins. The Leather Sheath has been coated with Neatsfoot Compound Oil and dyed a mahogany color, but otherwise has no other protective coatings.
It is hand forged by me out of a coal forge with a big hammer and anvil, and hardened with a propane forge. Then I grind it into shape, and finished it to 320 grit by hand with sandpaper.
This knife already has an edge on it and is very sharp.
It will be shipped in gun oil wrapped with desiccant packets inside to protect from corrosion while in transit. Oil the blade to protect it for its life.
