When the butterflies start flying, you know that Spring has arrived.
I wanted to make a mixed media piece, that incorporated the joy and some of the colors of spring. To that end, I cut out the flowers and added a bit of acrylic paint to the tips to give them some extra sparkle. To add dimension, I added acrylic crystals to the middles of the flowers, too. For the butterflies and the unopened flowers, I used paper strips, husked on a board. I also made a ton of curved teardrops, to add more depth to the picture.
Archival quality paper, card stock, and glue. The picture is 11" X 8.5" with a 2" mat, so that the final picture is 15" X 12.5".
