First described by botanist David Douglas in 1828, growing near the Colombian river.Sky Lupine is a easy to grow Annual that will tolerate some drought after established and doesn't mind a little shade.The plant is low lying and bushy, with star shaped 3" leaves. If seeds are planted in early spring,eye catching violet blue flower spikes will grow up to 24" tall and bloom mid summer and into Fall(Deadheading will extent blooms) The blooms are deep violet/blue with white and yellow spots. The colors vary from spike to spike, so no two blooms are exactly alike. The blooms make great long lasting cut flowers. Sky Lupines also do well in a good sized container.
