"Don't you just hate to move? Doesn't it seem as if getting the dog, the goldfish, the VCR and all your other worldly possessions from Point A to Point B means something goes wrong? Not if you're with Arlo Pear. Then everything must go wrong. Ace funnyman Richard Pryor and director Alan Metter keep the laughs Moving right along in this tale about Arlo (Pryor), a lawn-watering suburbanite, family man and career transit engineer who's an expert on getting people and things from one place to another. At least he used to be an expert- until a job changes forces him to move from Point A in Summit, New Jersey, to Point B: Boise, Idaho. It's a relocation that's no small potatoes to his mutinous family. So beleaguered Arlo must somehow keep peace with his household. And keep pace with crackpots who thwart his every move: a looney neighbor Randy Quaid, who undoubtedly found his brain at Lobotomies-R-Us, bully boy movers, (including wrestler King Kong Bundy), and a cross-country auto driver (Dana Carvey) who has more wacko personalities than Arlo's beloved Saab has gears. Toss in an encounter with a bet the house banker ( a surprise star cameo) and Arlo is just one nicked table leg away from his inevitable, hilarious breaking point. Throughout these mountainous misadventures, Pryor and company pack is a houseful of laughs. So, for comedy that's going places, pack up your troubles and get Moving."
