You have to try this tender and delicious MUSHROOM POPCORN! The resulting popped kernels are large and round with very few pieces that stick out. These kernels pop HUGE! The expansion rate for this variety is 36-38:1.

This is the popcorn desired by the BEST gourmet caramel corn and candy companies. Until now, this mushroom popcorn was not available to the general public.

The large, smooth, puffy ball shapes hold toppings, glazes, and chocolate like no other. If you've eaten super high-end caramel, toffee, and chocolate coated popcorn, chances are it was made with this MUSHROOM POPCORN! Now you can have it too!

Mushroom popcorn is typically used for caramel corn and other popcorn confections and is also great for making Kettle Corn. However it is equally delicious prepared in your home popper with a little butter and salt.

Once you try this popcorn, you'll never go back to the jarred and bagged popcorn from the grocery store. And once you use it to make your own, home-made caramel or chocolate covered popcorn, you'll be back for more...again, and again!

A Note About Mushroom Popcorn
"Mushroom" popcorn refers to popcorn that has much more of the ball-shapes than typical "butterfly" popcorn. Regular (butterfly) popcorn on average will have maybe 5% ball shapes.

According to many growers, 35-45% ball shapes would be considered "mushroom popcorn". However, we hold our farmers to a higher standard - our popcorn averages more than 65% ball shapes (usually much more).

When you purchase commercially produced caramel corn and see perhaps 80-90% ball shapes, such as Cracker Jacks, not only are they using mushroom popcorn, but they remove most of the non-ball shapes through extensive processing.

The method of popping also plays a large part in the percentage of "mushrooms". Commercial poppers are able to maintain the exact temperature needed, so home users may need to experiment a few times with their stove-top poppers to get the desired results.
