cs2098 - A collection Software for Bio-Acoustic Analysis and Synthesis
Copyright 2010 Edition Arnold Kochman. Other copyrights apply, including but not limited to the GNU Public License. If you need to study the sounds of humans, birds, whales, or any creature, the software packages on thss CD may be of interest to you.To use the software in this collection you should know the elements production and bio-acoustics in general. You should also understand what waveforms, spectrograms etc.mean. You will have to interpret the results you get in the context of your work. Some tutorial material may offer a limited background to these topics, but you should also consult relevant current books. If you are also a beginner to computing, you will need to know how to use your computer's operating and file systems so that you can find and load sound data, and organize the storage of data belonging to your analysis project. You must also understand your computer's sound system so that you can record and listen to sound data. All programs for speech analysis and synthesis presume that you are already familiar with your system environment and able to do some configuration and/or that you have access to the assistance you may need. You will need one or more of the commonly available utilities to expand compressed archives, such as tar, PKUNZIP or WinZip, etc. Most are distributed as source. Programs may need to be compiled, and have their individual installation procedures. The various packages are at different levels of maturity and completeness, and I cannot certify that they are all worthwhile for any particular purpose. You will have to judge for yourself, but there is a lot to choose from.
