A stately tree with glorious proportions and blazing color that does not fade for the entire season. Amazingly lush in the summer, and just a strikingly in the Fall. The King Crimson Norway Maple is very fast-growing and tolerant of city smoke and dust. This variety has a columnar and low crown with rounded habits and reddish slightly variegated foliage. The species name, meaning inch like Platanus, inch indicates the similarity of the leaves to those of Sycamore and Planetree, to which it is not related. The Crimson King has Red/Purple leaves that retain their color all summer. Easy to transplant and well adapted to extremes in soil. Will withstand clay, acid and sandy conditions. Holds up in hot dry conditions better than most maples. It is a surface-rooting tree which will limit turf beneath. It should be given room to grow and kept a fair distance from sidewalks, driveways and streets. Each packet of seed contains 10 OR MORE seed of this species
