Crimson King Norway Maple Tree Acer platanoides Crimson King Maple, Red King Maple, Red Maple (False), Ruby Red Maple Description: Introduced shade tree with rounded crown of dense foliage and with milky sap in leafstalks. The species name, meaning inch like Platanus, inch indicates the similarity of the leaves to those of Sycamore and Planetree, to which it is not related. The Crimson King has Red/Purple leaves that retain their color all summer. Easy to transplant and well adapted to extremes in soil. Will withstand clay, acid and sandy conditions.
