This is a genuine 1913 $5.00 cold coin. This is called a half eagle, as the $10 gold coin was called the eagle. So this is half of the eagle, hence the name, half eagle.

HISTORY: The Indian Head half eagle made its first appearence in 1908; it was minted continuously through 1916, and again in 1929.
