Over the past 200 years the US Treasury has issued a number of Hi-denomination notes like this one ... legal tender and interest bearing notes of the 1860's, silver certificates of the 1870's and 1880's .. and if you ever find one ... priceless. The hi-denomination notes were used for interbank transactions and then completely destroyed. This $500 note was issued during the Civil War by the Confederate States of America. This February 1864 was the last issue released. It's a unique note .. at the left is George Washington on horseback, at right is a bust of Stonewall Jackson and the upper left is the confederate flag - the only note issued by the south to show the flag!!
