You are looking on one (1) 1951 USS Frank E. Evans Ship Cancel Shaw Postal Card. This custom? Shaw postal card features a neat ship illustration and the printed address of the sendee. Card was franked with two 0.5 Benjanmin Franklin Prexie Stamps (US Scott #801) and canceled February 16, 1951 aboard the U.S.S. Frank E. Evans. Nice large hand cancel. See scan provided below.The USS Frank E. Evans (DD-754), an Allen M. Sumner class destroyer, was named in honor of General Frank Evans, a leader of the American Expeditionary Force in France during World War I. She served in late World War II and the Korean War, and Vietnam War before being cut in half in a collision with the Australian aircraft carrier Melbourne in 1969. Her keel was laid down at the Bethlehem Steel Company of Staten Island, New York. She was launched on 3 October 1944 sponsored by Mrs. Frank E.
