Professional football quarterback David Carr born July 21, 1979, in Bakersfield, California. Carr played NCAA football at California State University (Fresno State). During his senior year, Carr led the Bulldogs to an 11-3 record and earned the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the first round (1st overall) in the 2002 NFL Amateur Draft in their inaugural season, which means he was first player ever drafted by the Texans. In the Texans first game ever, September 8, 2002, against the Dallas Cowboys, Carr led the Texans to their first victory, becoming just the second expansion team ever to win their first game. Carr started all but a handful of games for the team first five years, leaving after the 2006 season. Carr was sacked 249 times during his 5 seasons with Texans.
