ACTOR BILL PAXTON'S 1973 ARLINGTON HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK
Another nice collectible for your consideration. You are looking on one (1) 1973 Arlington Heights High School Yearbook with future actor Bill Paxton and future NFL players Mike Renfro and Tony Franklin. Offerred here is the 1973 Arlington Heights High School Yearbook (Fort Worth, Texas), titled "Yellow Jacket." Three "notables" are in this book. In the Senior Class is future actor Bill Paxton, in the Junior Class is future NFL starting wide receiver Mike Renfro and in the Sophomore Class is future NFL Pro Bowl placekicker Tony Franklin.
This book is in very nice condition. Spine shows a little shelf wear but spine and binding seem strong and I just removed a place cover that was well worn, but it protected the face of book since '73 until I removed it. There are a lot of student and staff signatures in the front and back of the book, and at least one other inside. I did not notice either of the "notables" signatures. There is at least one Senior Class male who did not sign his name. Bill Paxton, who is a Senior, is mentioned as President of the Allied Youth club (page 22). He is shown with other Allied Youth Executive Board Members (page 86); in the Allied Youth Homeroom Representitives group photo (page 87); and in his Senior Class photo (page 220).
Mike Renfro, a Junior, appears in several photographs in the book. He is shown making a football catch (page 32); is a part of the Varsity Football Team photo (page 33); is mentioned reguarding football games on pages 35, 36 & 38; is a part of the Track Team photo (page 57); and in his Junior Class photo (page 171).
Tony Franklin, a Sophomore, appears in several photographs as well. One of the legends of Hollywood, some of the films Paxton has appeared in includes Stripes (1981); Streets of Fire (1984), The Terminator (1984), Commando (1985), Weird Science (1985), Fresno (1986), Aliens (1986), Navy Seals (1990), Predator 2 (1990), Tombstone (1993), True Lies (1994), Apollo 13 (1995), Twister (1997), Titanic (1997), Spy Kids 2 Island of Lost Dreams (2002) and Spy Kids 3-D Game Over (2003) and many more.
Paxton directed and starred in Frailty (2001) and The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005). Paxton has the distinction of being one of only two actors who has starred alongside an Alien (as Private Hudson in Aliens), a Predator (as Jerry Lambert in Predator 2), and a Terminator (as the punk leader in The Terminator). He holds a distinct honor of being the only actor to have been "killed" by all three.
Professional football wide receiver Michael Ray Renfro was born June 19, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. Renfro attended Texas Christian University (TCU) and was selected by the Houston Oilers in the 4th round of the 1978 NFL Draft. Renfro played for the Houston Oilers from 1978 to 1983 and the Dallas Cowboys from 1984 to 1987.
Former professional football placekicker Anthony "Tony" Ray Franklin was born November 18, 1956 in Big Spring, Texas. Franklin attended Texas A&M and was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 3rd round of the 1979 NFL Draft. Franklin played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1979 to 1983, the New England Patriots from 1984 to 1987 and the Miami Dolphins in 1988. Franklin, who was well known for his barefoot kicking style, was credited with the fourth longest field goal (at the time) in NFL history during his '79 rookie year with the Eagles, a 59-yarder at Dallas on November 12, 1979. The 1985 Pro Bowl selection played in Super Bowl XV and Super Bowl XX, kicking a field goal in each game.
