Former professional football player Randall Cunningham was born Wednesday, March 27, 1963 in Santa Barbara, California. Cunningham played NCAA college football at Nevada-Las Vegas where he was All-conference punter and quarterback three years in a row (1982-1984). He ranked #6 in the nation in passing rating during 1983 and ranked #5 during 1984. Drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 1985 NFL Draft. After taking over the Eagles from Ron Jaworski in 1987, Cunningham average more than 3,000 yards and 24 TDs passing in his first four years. Cunningham also led the team in rushing, including a staggering 942 yards in 1990, the standing record for quarterbacks. Cunningham played for 17 seasons in the NFL; 1985-1995 with the Philadelphia Eagles, 1997-1999 with the Minnesota Vikings, 2000 with the Dallas Cowboys and 2001-2002 with the Baltimore Ravens. He logged a total of 161 games, gathering 29,979 yards and 207 touchdowns, rushed for additional 4928 yards and 35 touchdowns. Cunningham was voted the NFL’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1988, 1990 and 1998. Only Jim Brown, Y. A. Title, Johnny Unitas and Bret Favre have been honored in as many years.
