Years ago, still good bits of cloth from worn clothing and small scraps from sewing projects were sewn together to make usable items.
Necessity dictated the methods of early quilt makers.
Today increasing numbers of pieced quilts are made from large pieces of material.
These may include yardage brought off the bolt, remnants, and used clothing in good condition.
These larger pieces are marked and cut into small pieces and then assembled into a large piece again; a quilt top.
But if you are using large pieces of fabric to begin with, why not take advantage of their size to shorten the time required to make a top?
That is what the quick quilting method does.
You will learn to mark more than one piece at once and to sew
more than two pieces at once.
The two main techniques are cutting board marking and
strip sewing.
