This is the largest celery dish I've ever seen. It is 12.5 inches long and 6 inches wide. It is almost the size of a Savoy cabbage. It is ceramic, marked Japan on the back and is without any chips or cracks. It has considerable age discoloration particularly on the underside, but it is a charming piece and will take it's place proudly on a display shelf when not in use. The top is celery leaf green and the stalks are a beige white with tomatoes and beans painted on the base.
The photos show a reflection on those vegetables. It is not paint loss. The only paint wear is one small bit off the edge of the celery leaves. There is minor gold wear but it is still obviously present. It has little runners on the bottom to make it sit balanced.
