~ Antique German Easter large wood egg candy container
~ Early 20th c. and almost certainly of Erzgebirge region origin
~ An absolute rarity and exquisite handcrafted folk art!
~ See "Remarks" below
~ A turned and hollowed 2-piece wooden egg
~ Dual-sided exterior for year-round display
~ On one side, a dressed anthropomorphic Mr. Rabbit in coat tails with a basket
~ Gorgeous lifelike Spring flowers on the reverse
~ With carved edge detailing and beautifully hand painted
~ On the upper half a light grayish paint wash base color
~ Note -- The gray is muted and not as bright as shown in some photos
~ A small chip on the bottom edge (Photo #3)
~ Egg separates at the middle for filling
~ Minor spotting on the interior lower half
~ Marked in pencil underneath, but somewhat illegible
~ Perhaps "6/2195 H243" over a line and then "2,75" or "2,15"
~ Overall about 6-1/4 in high x 3-5/8 in across at the widest point
~ In very well preserved, original condition
~ Minimal age and use commensurate wear
