Bakul is used in the treatment and maintenance of oral hygiene. Rinsing mouth with water solution made with bakul helps in strengthening the teeth. Bakul also prevents bad breath and helps keep the gums healthy.
Uses:
Dental diseases: Toothache: Boil the bark of Mimusops elengi with water in a pot. Filter the decoction. Gargle with this luke-warm decoction twice a day for four days. (or) Boil the leaves of Mimusops elengi with water. Filter the decoction. Gargle with this lukewarm decoction thrice a day for three days.
Ozena: Extract juice from the leaves of Mimusops elengi Put two to three drops of this juice inside the nose twice a day until cured.
Pyorrhea: Grind together the bark of Mimusops elengi with 50 g Alum and 5 g common salt, into a powder. Warm this powder and massage this powder on the teeth once a day at the tine of brushing teeth until cured.
Wound: Boil the bark of Mimusops elengi with water in a pot. Filter the decoction. Wash the wound with this decoction twice a day until cured.
