This whistle is made from a piece of soapstone I had found on the land. I cleaned, smoothed, and designed it into the shape of a whistle.
Roughly 2 inches long and 1 inch wide.
Imi is the gothic word for essence or the basic element of everything. The Imi whistle has been touched by all the elements. It came from the earth, carved with metal, sanded in water, fired - heated to prepare finish, and it is to have the air/wind blown threw it. Imi whistles are very special especially since they are hand made with love straight from the earth.
This is made of soapstone native to Statesville, NC. Soapstone is metamorphic rock composed mostly of talc and has been a medium for carving for thousands of years.
To use the whistle take your thumb and fore finger cover the end holes and blow into the center hole in a flute like manner.
