The Beatles began their first North American tour in August, playing in 21 U.S. cities and 3 Canadian cities.
The Beatles make their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in New York. They opened with "All my Loving," followed by "Till there was You"and "She Loves You," and closed with "I Saw her Standing There" and "I Want to Hold your Hand."
At the 7th Annual Grammy Awards, the Beatles won two awards----Best Performance by a Vocal Group and Best New Artists.
