Steel and leather engravable key ring unisex vintage ll2635

This key chain is a beveled edge rectangle of solid stainless steel(?) with a black leather loop that holds a sturdy steel split chicken ring for keys. It is 1 1/8 x 1 5/8 inches. The plain surface front and back would allow for a monogram, name or more.
I call this stainless but that is my best guess. It doesn't feel or look like silver toned metal. The finish has minor scrapes and marks from handling that would reveal a base metal if just silver tone.
This is not very feminine so I'm calling this a unisex key ring.
