"The author of this book claims that the well-known saying 'The way to a man's heart is through his stomach' is of Czech origin. True or not, this book of Czech cooking is warmly recommended to any woman as a sure way to HIS heart.

"Czechoslovakia lies at the crossroads of Europe, and so its appetizing cookery has been much influenced by that of its neighbors - notably Vienna, France, Russia. However cosmopolitan its sources, Czech cooking has become so well thought of that a few years ago it took pride of place at the Brussels International Festival.

"In these pages you will find recipes for the dishes which Czech housewives make for their families today. Fascinating reading, they will make you want to try them with your family: delicious, nourishing soups - just the thing for a cold winter day; a huge selection of meat dishes, with the famous Czech accompaniment, dumplings of all kinds; the wonderful cakes and puddings for which Czech cooks are famed. And if you love the smell of home-made bread you will find much to tempt you here.

"In fact, this is just the book for the cook who likes to try something different without being outlandish or over-exotic. These delightful Czech recipes will become firm favorites in any home."
