ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands - 1970s Shoppers' Guide Brochure
Description: Here's a nice fold-out brochure for visitors to the island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, who might want to do a bit (or a lot) of shopping. It's main feature is a street map of downtown Charlotte Amalie, with more than 30 shops numbered and keyed to the shop names, which are cross-referenced across 20 different categories. It also offers shopping tips, with emphasis on the duty-free aspect of many purchases.
Size: approx. 9" x 4" (closed), opening to 9" x 16"
Date: Not explicitly dated, but likely 1978, as there's a reference to pre-1878 antiques being duty-free (and there's also a lightly pencilled number "78" on one panel).
Condition: Generally very good, I'd say, The booklet is clean and fresh, with just an occasional thumb bend here and there. However, the map and surrounding shop directory have a half dozen lightly penciled notations. (Please see photos.)
