SMECTA 3g 30 Sachets - Treatment of Acute & Chronic Diarrhea Adult & Children
Smecta is a non-systemic gastrointestinal tract mucous-protective drug which interacts with mucous molecules, it strengthens the mucous barrier and protects the surface of enterocytes , fights against bacteria and toxin which present within the lumen. Smecta has a specific binding action for rotavirus, one of the main causes of diarrhea in children.
SMECTA used for:
- symptomatic treatment of pain associated with oesophageal, gastric and duodenal and colon disorders;
- treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea in children (including infants) and adults.
Smecta should not be used:
- if you are allergic to diosmectitis or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Diosmectitis can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding because it remains chemically unchanged and is not absorbed.
SMECTA contains glucose, sucrose.
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.
How to consume SMECTA:
AGE PACKAGES PER DAY
Under 1 year old 1 sachet a day
2 sachets daily for 3 days followed by 1 sachet daily
Over 1 year old - 4 sachets daily for 3 days followed by 2 sachets daily
From 1 to 2 years old 1-2 sachets per day Over 2 years old 2-3 sachets a day
ADULTS 3 sachets a day 6 sachets daily
Method and route of administration
For oral use. The contents of the sachet should be reconstituted immediately before use.
For children
The contents of the sachet should be dissolved in 50 ml of water (eg feeding bottle) or mixed with semi-liquid food (eg baby food, mashed vegetables, soup, compote).
For adults
The contents of the sachet should be dissolved in half a glass of water. Add the powder to water by stirring the suspension to make a homogeneous mixture.
In case of esophageal inflammation, diosmectitis is better taken after a meal, in all other cases between meals.
Composition of SMECTA
The active substance is diosmectitis. One sachet of 3,760 g contains 3 g of diosmectite. The other ingredients are: glucose, saccharin sodium, vanilla flavoring (maltodextrin, sucrose, glycerol triacetate, colloidal anhydrous silica, ethyl alcohol, soy lecithin, vanilla flavoring) and orange flavoring (maltodextrin, monohydrate, -and diglyceride diacetyltartaric acid esters, colloidal anhydrous silica, orange oils).
