This marvelous hand-painted icon was written with love and care, according to the holy canons of the church. That means that it is painted on aged hardwood, with real gold, using egg tempura and rabbit's glue. The icon is authentic, and designed to last for many, many years in an Orthodox Christian temple or home. The iconographer by who's hand this was written was trained on Mt. Athos as a boy, and has been an iconographer for more than forty years.
