LIVE Carnivorous Starter Pack - Sundew, Sarracenia, Flytrap Small Plants
LIVE CARNIVOROUS PLANT - The Sarracenia, also known as the trumpet pitcher, is a genus of carnivorous plants that are native to the United States and Canada. They have a stunning explosion of appearances from the low growing psittacina to the impressive leucophylla.
NATURE'S PEST CONTROL - Sarracenia attracts insects with a lovely patch of sweet nectar right at the base of the lid. Insects are drawn to this nectar and are encouraged by tiny downward facing hairs to move down into the pitcher. At some point the insect loses its footing and falls down the tube. At this point the bug slowly converted into plant food through digestion by enzymes and bacteria. Yum yum!
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED - A detailed grower's guide will be included with your purchase
SHIPS POTTED - Plants are shipped potted to minimize the chance of damage in transit
Drosera capensis, or the Cape Sundew, is a carnivorous plant species forming linear leaves up to 4.5 inches long. It is easy to care for and and may produce plantlets as it grows. The leaves are covered with tentacles (trichomes) that secrete a sticky “dew” to attract and catch prey.
The Venus Fly Trap is a carnivorous plant that needs no introduction. It is native to North and South Carolina and has inspired generations with its menacing looking teeth and horrific means of eating insects.
The Sarracenia or North American Pitcher Plant is a diverse group of carnivorous plant with almost a dozen different species. They can be crossed to create an explosion of different forms that inspire awe. Their size ranges from low growing clumps to giants that tower over four feet high. They are also sometimes referred to as trumpet pitchers due to the long shape of their trap which they use to lure bugs into before digesting them for nutrients.
Growing instructions will be included.
