Also known as “LEMON BEE BALM,” this herb from the mint family is incredibly easy to grow from seeds. It’s a rapidly growing annual that produces tall spikes of pinkish-purple flowers, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden. Lemon Mint thrives in alkaline or clay soils but is quite versatile, doing well in any well-drained soil. The leaves, when crushed, release a refreshing citrus aroma and can be brewed into herbal tea. In warmer regions, this plant will self-seed, offering you a fresh crop the following year.
Since Lemon Mint seeds are tiny and easily washed away, it’s best to start them indoors to give your garden a head start! Sow the seeds indoors about six to eight weeks before the final frost, then transplant them outside once the weather has warmed.
