and Charles Dicken's Oliver Twist, which have influenced
legislation helped to improve the conditions of the lowly. Its author
wished to appeal to the hearts of the people, but once declared, in a
moment of pessimism, that he had only succeeded in reaching their
stomachs! "
This book is very old and shows sign of wear including edgewear and yellowing of the pages.
No missing pages, but there is some separation of the binding from the pages in several spots,
mostly in the beginning and ending of the book.
Several pages have some torn edges along the binding.
The previous owner's name is written on the inside front cover.
