This limited–edition set contains a proof quality Star–Spangled Banner Silver Dollar, a reproduction of one of Francis Scott Key’s original manuscripts of his poem “The Star–Spangled Banner,” the full lyrics to the “Star–Spangled Banner,” and information about our national anthem against colorful artwork depicting the battle between U.S. and British forces for Fort McHenry, Maryland. Mintage is limited to 50,000 sets.
The obverse (heads side) design of the 2012 Star-Spangled Banner Commemorative Silver Dollar is emblematic of the theme "The Battle of Baltimore at Fort McHenry." It depicts Lady Liberty waving the 15-star, 15-stripe Star-Spangled Banner flag with Fort McHenry in the background.
The reverse (tails) design is emblematic of the theme "The Star-Spangled Banner" (the flag). It depicts a waving modern American flag.
