Publishers. The engraving belongs to a vast series of several hundred antique prints specially engraved on copper and dedicated to all fields of human knowledge. Publisher: Giuseppe Pomba, bookseller, typographer and publisher born in Turin in 1795 and died in 1876, considered the first in Italy to move from the ancient typographical regime to a modern publishing enterprise. He began his activity in Turin in 1818, developing his activity among classical works, periodicals and wide-ranging encyclopedic works. In 1829 engraving in color for the first time and in the following years he was the precursor of the development of engraving in Italy. In 1854, UTET was born from the union with another company, a publishing brand still active today.
