Overview of the ArtworkUrbain Huchet (1930–2014) was a French artist renowned for his vibrant lithographs depicting French landscapes, urban scenes, and coastal motifs, often produced in limited editions at his own ateliers in Paris and Cannes. "Le Phare" (French for "The Lighthouse") is one of his works, likely inspired by his affinity for Brittany's coastal scenery. Based on available market data, this appears to refer to a hand-signed limited edition color lithograph on Arches paper, measuring approximately 29.5" x 21.5" (sheet size). It is part of an artist proof (EA) edition of 50, making it rarer than standard editions (typically 250–500 for Huchet's prints).Gallery Retail PriceThe gallery retail price for this specific hand-signed limited edition lithograph is $1,950 USD. This pricing aligns with comparable large-format, signed Huchet lithographs sold through galleries and art brokers, such as "Cafe de Paris" (also 29.5" x 21.5", edition of 250) at $1,900. Artist proofs like this one command a premium (often 20–50% above standard editions) due to their limited run and direct artist involvement.Prices can vary by condition, framing, and seller, but gallery listings emphasize authenticity with certificates. Auction realizations for similar Huchet lithographs range from $200–$500 (unframed, smaller sizes), but these represent secondary market values, not primary gallery retail.

Description
The artwork depicts a seascape scene featuring a lighthouse, several boats docked or sailing in the water, and two figures walking along a pier or dock. The style is somewhat loose and expressive, with visible brushstrokes or printing marks, suggesting either a watercolor painting or a print based on one. The color palette is muted but includes blues, greens, reds, and browns. The overall impression is of a somewhat somber or contemplative coastal scene.

Biography
Urbain Huchet was born in Rennes April 28, 1930. After law school and a stint in the textile industry, in 1960 he devoted himself completely to painting already practiced amateur. Self-taught painter, he settled for three years in Pont-Aven in the footsteps of Gauguin and Emile Bernard, the latter much influence he painted many landscapes and characters typical of this region particularly involved.

His works are typified by a fluid and free gestural approach to both form and color, and they are immediately recognizable. He is adept at both painting on canvas and watercolor and is an accomplished lithographer. His subjects are diverse but are primarily a reflection on the landscape of the Brittany regions as he has profound love for the coast.
