The Sapindus mukorossi Chinese Soapberry, also known as the wash-nut tree, is a tree native to India and Nepal. Its fruit, known as Indian Soapberry, contains saponin, a natural cleanser that can be used on hair, skin, and clothes. The soapnut also has insecticidal properties, medicinal benefits, and can be used to increase the mobility of oil from fields and wash arsenic from iron-rich soils.
Scarification: Soak in hot tap water, let stand in water for 24 hours, repeat process on seed that did not imbibe
Stratification: cold stratify for 90 days
Germination: sow seed 1/2" deep, tamp the soil, keep moist but not wet
