They are a perennial vine, coming back year after year. Wild Grape Vines prefer fertile, moist, well-drained soil and the vines need at least partial sun to thrive, but they will do better in full sun. They will need to be trained to grow on a trellis or climbing structure to reduce the risk of disease. These vines are very popular with gardeners and landscapers alike as they provide a gorgeous conversation piece, and possess the unique quality of being trained to climb structures. This creates a striking look. The Vines can grow from zones 4 to 7, depending on the specific strain of vine. The Wild Grape Vine is a hardy plant that can survive many varied conditions.
