Artocarpus integer, known as Chempedak, chempedek or cempedak (pronounced "chem-pe-dak"), is a species of tree and its fruit in the family Moraceae. It is native to southeast Asia, occurring from Indonesia and the Malay Peninsula to the island of New Guinea. The vigorously growing, medium-sized tree can bear heavy crops of fruit once or twice a year.
Absolutely delicious fruits, Cempedak has a wonderful tropical taste, sort of a banana/papaya flavor, sticky and sweet. The Cempedak has a pliable, soft and supple outer skin. The fruit flesh or aril is yellow to golden. Its aril is soft, tender, succulent and slippery.
