Little Brown Co., Boston, 1949 (copyright). Lacks price on jacket - Book Club Edition. Red cloth, deckled pages, gilt letters against a black background. Minor spine bumping, hd & ft, corners sharp. Small previous seller's price, in light pencil, top corner of the fff - no other markings. Crisp white pages throughout. Front cover gilt is subdued, but still extant & fully legible; spine gilt is bright. Tightly bound, just a hair off-true. There is a small waterstain(?) on the back board, near the hinge (see description below, about DJ). Both hinges are sound. Cream-colored DJ is edge-worn with small tears/chips (all closed), mainly at top & bottom of spine. The spine has darkened with age/handling. There is a 1" blemish/waterstain, about midway near the spine, to the back cover, which has bled-through & left a stain on the back board of the book. DJ is now in a reusable ClearBags protective dust jacket. 160 pages.
