Antique Union Case Photo Holder

This is a beautiful old photo holder, known as a union case Circa 1850 - 1880. The embossed, black finished leather covers the wood case. (there is wear) The goldtone metal frame contains a daguerreotype photo, which is quite faded but as the photo shows there are still ghostly figures of a woman and child. The general condition is fair and comparable to similar items. Hinges and metal hook closures all in good working order. The case meaures 3 1/8" X 3 1/2".
