ILLINOIS BUNDLEFLOWER. American native wildflower. A perennial reaching 24-48"" inches tall. Fern-like foliage and puffy, round 1"" white flowers. Actually is a legume, it fixates nitrogen and improves the soil. Blooms spring to late summer. In late summer the seed pods will start to form.The seed pods will curve around each other to form a 1"" bundle(the namesake) that will rattle when shaken. Young Native American children where given these to use as a rattle. This a very interesting plant on two fronts. It produces a lot of rattling seeds pods, and the fern like leaves fold up when touched! Easily grown from seed. This though as nails plant will adapt to just about any growing condition. Pretty much carefree after established. Bees and Butterflies love this plant and so do most grazers.
