Going Ape! is a 1981 American comedy film directed by Jeremy Joe Kronsberg and produced by Paramount Pictures. The original music score was composed by Elmer Bernstein. Plot: When eighty-year-old Max Sabatini dies, he leaves his three prized orangutans in the care of his only son, Foster. In order to inherit his father's five million dollar fortune, Foster must take care of the apes for the next five years.

Going Ape was released in theaters in 1981. It played on an endless loop it felt like on HBO in the early 80's. Not until 1998 did it receive a home video release and that was on VHS. It has never even been available on DVD much less Blu-ray.

The Tony Danza Fan Club of Los Angeles has been campaigning for a Blu-Ray release from Paramount that has fallen on deaf ears but we heard them and here it is.

The reality is, Going Ape is not Gone With The Wind. It's a cheezy often silly 80's classic that stars 2 stars from TV's TAXI Tony Danza and Danny DeVito. For many it's just dumb fun or a simply a childhood flashback. And there's nothing wrong with either.

The newly upscaled 1080p theatrical matted 16X9 version and the original open matte 4X3 480p version used for VHS and TV airings.
