Beautiful nice wood color. This old cane is in really good shape, especially given its age. The top handle is made of solid brass, and it is heavy! This was probably made sometime in the 1960s.It may be hickory with a rod in the middle and a 10oz solid brass top. I think that the top and bottom ferule were heat shrunk onto the shaft and were guaranteed to never loosen or come off.The canes were put forth as "Bell Ringer" canes in the sense of being a self defense tool. This quickly was found to be "illegal" and there came the WS company...This rare cane has a colonial bell ringer stamped into the round part of the top.This cane does not have WS trade mark, I think because it was a very early one.The company was called the Walking Stick company and wasn't in business very long.
