All top-edge & lettering gilt is bright. The 2nd Contents page on Volume Two was evidently un-cut, and has been poorly opened, with a resulting jagged edge as a result.; one edge of the back end-paper on Volume One is also slightly torn. Volume One has minor blemishes to the back board (scratches). Each volume has a small bookseller's label near the hinge on the back board stating, "The Holliday Bookshop, 49 E. 49th St., New York". Both books are tightly bound; all hinges are sound. 380/369 pages + 13 pg Index.
